This Tank Teapot is based on the wonder weapon that first saw action in 1916. It was an instant success when first released, and was known as the Ole Bill teapot; the lid represents a soldier based on a character featured in the works of Bruce Bairnfather, a famous writer of the period. At the outbreak of WW2, the teapot again sold in record numbers-when it was noticed that the soldier's face bore a remarkable resemblance to that of the new Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This teapot is finished in the original white glaze, and is highlighted in platinum lustre, which is applied by hand by skilled decorators. Approx dimensions: 9.5 in x 4.5 in x 5.5 in Made in England
