Welcome to Racing Teapots Teapots

Racing Teapots Ltd was formed around some of the finest potters and decorators in Stoke-on-Trent, the heart of the pottery district in England. Using the original moulds their commitment is to bring the past back to life. They use the same work methods and materials used when the moulds were first created-even down to tracing the original glaze manufacturer so they could successfully recreate all the correct colourways. Every Racing Teapot is hand made and hand decorated, and carries the Racing Teapot stamp underneath. Their team of decorators, led by a former Royal Doulton artist, artfully apply the valuable, silver-based platinum lustre, just as it was done in the heyday of the Art Deco period. The only thing that has changed is that the standard of finish today is much higher than when these teapots were first made in the 1920s and 30s.Their high standards have been recognised by many of the world's leading museums who now stock their teapots. These are superb pieces that we are pleased to offer you.

This Tank Teapot is based on the wonder weapon that first saw action in 1916. It was an instant success when first released, and was known as the Ole Bill teapot; the lid represents a soldier based on a character featured in the works of Bruce Bairnfather, a famous writer of the period. At the outbreak of WW2, the teapot again sold in record numbers-when it was noticed that the soldier's face bore a remarkable resemblance to that of the new Prime Minister, Winston Churchill. This teapot is finished in the original white glaze, and is highlighted in platinum lustre, which is applied by hand by skilled decorators.

The Train Teapot is an evocative representation of the streamlined record-breaking locomotives of the 1930s. When the Mallard, designed by Sir Nigel Gresley, shattered the world record for a steam-driven train, at 126 mph, this teapot was created to celebrate the achievement. The Train Teapot is finished in the original white glaze, and is highlighted in platinum lustre, which is applied by hand by skilled decorators.
