This is a very nice tea set from Ros Byrne Pottery. All hand painted in detail with monkeys in various poses. The large photo shows the whole set of a teapot, cream and sugar and two cups and saucers.
Ros Byrne is the creative energy and founder of Ros Byrne Pottery. Her love of this particular art form inspired her to establish a commercial business in 1986. Ros Byrne began the small pottery studio with a thrower and an assitant. Production consisted of stoneware pottery with a conventional western form and design. Since then, the designs have evolved and are now characterized by a rich African feel. What started as a small studio has grown into a very large facility employing over 100 artists hand throwing and hand painting pottery that meets the highest standard accepted internationally

Another outstanding tube lined desgin by Jeanette McCall
Tube lining is the art of adding raised releif decoratoin to ceramics. A soft clay slip is pushed through a tube, much the same way that you would decorate a cake, is used to outline the design. Layers of color are than applied. Several firing are required which gives the Tube-lined "art pottery" Each piece is tube-lined and painted entirely by hand. Flowing raised lines and pristine color, combined with detailed and subtle brushstrokes.
Teapot is 8.25 inches long by 8.25 inches high by 5 inches wide.

These pieces are hand thrown and painted by the African artist Rhoda Henning. Each piece is unique and we photograph each one seperately so what you see is indeed what you will get.
Rhoda started clay work in 1978 in Pretoria where she has lived all her life. It all began as a hobby, but after finishing a BSc in math and then qualifying as a medical doctor she decided that ceramics is an all consuming business and went into it full time. She has won several awards for design, wheelwork, decoration and tableware at regional and national exhibitions held by the Association of Potters of Southern Africa.
The teapot holds 6 cups.

Since Steven McGovney and Tammy Camarot have been married, they have created a body of artwork that draws on each other's strengths. His sculpture and ceramic background provides reference for the three-dimensional and technical side, while her intuitive sense of pattern helps design the tableware's two-dimensional surfaces.
McGovney designs and slip casts each piece in low-fire white clay, hand finishing it with pulled spouts, handles and sculptural additions. After the first firing, Camarot gains control, painting underglaze colors and delicately scribing highlights. Fired again, the piece is dipped in clear glaze and sent to the kiln one last time.
The result is a functional work of art. Truly Beautiful.
The teapot has a sun on one side as shown in the small photo and a moon on the back as shown in the larger photo. Teaset is a teapot, 2 cups, and a cream and sugar. All hand painted and in a word unique.
